Welcome BBQ teams!!!
We are excited to have you join us for the first annual BBQ for Bravery benefiting Beloved Roots Ranch for Veterans. If you haven’t already, please read through this website for more information on how we intend to help our veterans.
A few notes about the competition:
-
This event will follow all KCBS rules to ensure a fair, competitive, and enjoyable experience for everyone.
-
Each team will be assigned a space, on a closed street for RV/Smoker trailers or food trucks. This is included with registration. Teams will be in a line in one lane of the closed street. Space is limited, and no teams may encroach into the adjoining lane, per the fire department.
-
Each team will be placed according to their registration and power supply preferences. Power is supplied from 50 amp outlets. Each team will need to bring an extension cord (50 ft recommended) and any adapters.
-
Teams will be able to fill up their water tanks prior to being parked.
-
We do anticipate having access to parking for RVs on Thursday night as well as partner hotels for those wishing to stay in a hotel. Please let us know if this applies to you. There will be no Saturday night parking.
-
Each team will have the option to be paired with a local veteran who can help with prep work, cooking, or cleanup. This is a unique opportunity to bring our veterans into the heart of the competition—sharing the camaraderie, teamwork, and joy that barbecue events are all about. If your team has a veteran connection, especially to a particular time or conflict, please let us know and we will attempt to assign a veteran with similar experience.
-
To further support our mission, we ask each team to donate leftovers from your KCBS turn-in meats. These will be used in our BBQ Judging Class, and given to our volunteers, staff and sponsors for their support during the event. Please check the box on the registration form and let us know immediately if you will help us with this. Donation receipts can be provided upon request.
-
All teams will be required to pass a safety inspection by the fire marshall before parking.
-
Each team will be provided with two military-style event patches (see above) for their participation. Additional patches can be purchased through this registration process.
-
$5000 IN PRIZES* will be paid out to winners for:
-
Grand Champion
-
Reserve Champion
-
5 places per Masters category.
-
*based on 15 teams and increased for each additional team up to 20.
-
Registration will close on Sunday June 7, or when we reach 20 teams. Cancellations are allowed, with a refund, until May 31. After that date, no registration refunds will be made.
